What to Expect During Stone Fabrication and Installation
When you order a stone benchtop, much of the work happens behind the scenes. Understanding the fabrication and installation process helps you plan your renovation and know what to expect.
Step 1: On-site measure
HVGM visits your home to take exact measurements. This ensures your stone fits perfectly around appliances, sinks and cabinetry.
Step 2: Template creation
A template is made to map edges, joins, cutouts and overhangs. This prevents errors and ensures precision.
Step 3: Fabrication
In the workshop, your selected slab is cut, edged and polished. Sink and cooktop cutouts are completed, and joins are polished for seamless installation. HVGM fabricates everything in-house, which improves quality control.
Step 4: Installation
Once fabrication is complete, the stone is transported and installed. Stone requires skilled handling due to its weight and precise alignment requirements. Installers secure the benchtop, seal joins and ensure everything is level.
Step 5: Sealing and finishing
Depending on the stone type, sealing may be applied. You will receive maintenance instructions tailored to your material.
Step 6: Final inspection
HVGM checks all details including finish, edges, joins and fit around appliances. Any final adjustments are made on-site.
If you want a smooth renovation process with full in-house fabrication and installation, HVGM can manage the entire project from measurement to final finish.
